• Izabela and Jacob Sauer's Alarte Silks is a company specializing in one-of-a-kind handpainted silks represented by fine craft galleries throughout the United States and Canada.

• Izabela Sauer’s innovations in surface design emerge from her passion for texture and color. She produces handpainted Shibori scarves and shawls which showcase an exceptional gift for detail and artistic expression. Timeless pieces reinterpreted with modern attitude and dominated by seductive taste for contrast. Exotic colorations invoke Mediterranean sky, a shock of bougainvillea, or deep verdant greens. Her work embodies contemporary styling and true vision of personal adornment. 
  
  While Shibori is typically performed before coloring the fabric, Izabela instead uses it after she paints the silks. As a result, the pleats add textural element and give the scarves dimension, body and sculptural life. She uses them to underscore a feeling of movement for these fluid, sophisticated pieces in a range of mesmerizing colours.
  
  Izabela Sauer’s limited-edition and one-of-a-kind silk wearables can be found at her studio/gallery on Granville Island in Vancouver. They are also represented by fine craft galleries throughout the United States and Canada. She has won numerous awards for her textiles, including the 2002 and 2007 Niche Award for Excellence, an international competition for professional craft artists working in all media.

Currently Izabela and Jacob divide their time between sailing in South Pacific and working in Alarte Silks studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
